It’s a familiar problem, deciding where to eat. Halafeek is an app that helps users find restaurant options in their area.
After thoroughly interviewing Halafeek, we learned the strengths of their app. It’s easy and social. Halafeek connects users to restaurants using GPS and social networking.
We constructed a story that plainly explained what it’s like to be a Halafeek user. We reinforced the nuisance of having to decide where to eat. And then we showed how Halafeek turns the user from hungry and restless to powerful and energized.
Even in the storyboard phase, we knew we wanted to show the user’s thoughts (his thought bubbles) being turned into action. We showed the user transported to the virtual map choosing the restaurant he wanted. Almost anyone can make a cute drawing, but you can actually see the Halafeek character we designed become revitalized as he uses the app.
Halafeek also wanted to highlight its social aspect. Users could see reviews left by their friends to help them decide where to eat. So we included cartoon avatars in the screenshots of the app that acted out.
We were able to pack all this information in a fun and engaging way in under two minutes because of the story we were able to draw out of Halafeek’s service.
